9/9 Feast Day...Saint Peter Claver



There was an African-American parish in Louisville named for Saint Peter Claver. Saint Peter Claver opened in 1907, and was closed in the year 2000. Saint Peter Claver was on Wenzel Street. When I was a student at Saint Vincent de Paul School at Shelby and Oak. The nuns would march us up Shelby Street to Saint Peter Claver School's Fall Festival. It must have been around Halloween. I still remember the delicious cup cakes with orange icing. Deacon Gerry
