Soldier from Kentucky dies after attack in Afghanistan

Army 1st Lt. Eric Yates, 26, of Rineyville, Ky., died Saturday from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his combat unit on Friday with an improvised explosive device, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Yates was based at Fort Campbell and assigned to Bravo Company, First Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, Second Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
Lieutenant Yates is the cousin of parishioner, Tiffany Shively. Please keep the family in your prayers.
