Attack on AZ US Rep, Gabrielle Giffords, leaves a 9 year old girl who had just received her First Communion, a Federal Judge, and 4 others dead

One of the victims of the tragic attack on US Representative Gabrielle Giffords today in Tuscon, AZ today was a 9-year-old, Christina-Taylor Green. Christina had just received her first Holy Communion at Saint Odelia’s Catholic Church on Tucson’s northwest wide, Catholic Diocese of Tucson officials said.

“‘Let the children come to me,’ Jesus said (Matthew 19:14). Christina is with Him,” Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson Bishop Gerald F.Kicanas wrote in a prepared statement from Jordan, where he is attending a bishops’ meeting.

A neighbor was going to the Giffords event and invited Christina along because she thought she would enjoy it, said her uncle, Greg Segalini.

Christina had just been elected to the student council at her school. The event, held outside a Safeway supermarket north of Tucson, was an opportunity for constituents to meet Giffords and talk about any concerns they had related to the federal government.

"The next thing you know this happened. How do you prepare for something like this. My little niece got killed-took one on the chest and she is dead," Segalini said outside the girl's house.

Christina was involved in many activities, from ballet to baseball, Segalini said.

"She was real special and real sweet," Segalini said.

Please pray for Christina, her family and friends. As well as, Congresswoman Giffords, who is in critical condition in a Tuscon hospital, Federal Judge John Roll and 4 others who died today. In all over 15 others were injured in the attack. Also pray for an end to the incendiary political rhetoric that may have set off the perpetrator of the attack.
