Obituary of William H. "Dick" Wertz, father of Daryl

WILLIAM H. "DICK" WERTZ, 74, of Louisville, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013.

He was born June 20, 1939 in Harrisburg, PA, the son of Daniel W. and Mary N. Wertz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Delores Wertz; and one sister, Carol Drenchko.

Dick is a retired communications engineer for AT&T and was a past assistant chief of the Anchorage Fire Department. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, VFW Post and the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons, William Daryl Wertz (Marilena) and Michael Darren Wertz (Amy); his grandchildren, Jacob, Shelby, Lydia and Sophia; and two sisters, Grace Haddox (Bob) and Sylvia Wanto.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his caregivers, Melinda and Skyler and also to his special friends and neighbors, Gary, Debbie and Mike.

A Mass to celebrate his life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Road. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
