Passing of Lawrence Oechsli, father of Cathy Blandford

I found out Saturday that Lawrence Oechsli the father of Cathy Blanford passed away last Friday. Cathy was the Pastoral Associate for our parishes for many years. Please keep Cathy and the rest of Mr. Oechsli's family and friends in your prayers. May perpetual light shine upon him, may his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen

Lawrence Henry Oechsli, 87, was born into eternal life on Friday, September 11, 2015. 

He was a retired machinist from DuPont, a member of the senior clubs at St. Peter the Apostle and Incarnation parishes, the Gruetli Helvetia Society, a pinochle club, an officer of the Louisville Baseball Veterans Assoc., the founder of an annual family/friend event, the Derby Eve Golf Outing, held for over 30 years; and an avid Cardinal fan. 

Larry "Pa" was preceded in death by his mother and father, Louis V. Oechsli and Elizabeth Scheser; a brother Louis; and a sister, Mildred. 

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the love of his life, Mary Catherine (Mary Kay) Tichy; five children, Catherine Blandford, Cheryl Matthews (Dick), Janet Hilliard (Jerry), Jerry Oechsli (Teresa) and Mark Oechsli (Linda); 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward, Gilbert, Bernard Oechsli; sisters Catherine Bowron and Mary Shacklette; and brothers-in-law George and Bob Tichy. 

Visitation will be at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015, with Rosary at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, 10 a.m. at his church, St. Peter the Apostle, 5431 Johnsontown Road, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air or St. Peter the Apostle building fund. The family would like to thank all who have offered prayers on his behalf and kindly supported them in any way.
