Advent Reflections: Sunday, December 5 • Second Sunday of Advent •

There shall be no harm or ruin on all my
holy mountain;
for the earth shall be filled with knowledge
of the Lord,
as water covers the sea.
—Isaiah 11:9

If I truly could know my enemies,

I would understand them. If I truly could understand them,
I would be able to forgive them. And if I can forgive them,
I can no longer cause them harm.
The tide of God’s love will wash clean the messy shoreline of my heart.

Isaiah 11:1–10
Psalm 72
Romans 15:4–9
Matthew 3:1–12
