A big thank you from Father Scott and I to every one who helped in any way to make our churches and our Easter Triduum and Easter liturgies beautiful, uplifting celebrations of thanksgiving and worship of our Risen Savior.
Thanks expecially go out to the RCIA Directors, catechists and anyone else who helped with the formation of the the Elect and Candidates at both, All Saints and Saint Francis Xavier Parishes
My guess is around 1, 800 people attended Easter Triduum and Easter Masses at Saint Francis Xavier: the Mass of Our Lord's Supper on Holy Thurday (200), the Passion of Our Lord on Good Friday (225), the Easter Vigil (300) and the 7 AM (400) and 9 AM (700) Easter Sunday.
Five Elect were baptized at the Easter Vigil Mass. Four from All Saints and one from Saint Francis Xavier. 13 Elect and Candidates were confirmed and received First Communion at the Mass. Eight from All Saints and five from Saint Francis Xavier.
At the end of the Easter Vigil Mass, Father Scott paid tribute to RCIA Candidate, Sylvia "Rocky" Walters, who was to be fully initiated at the Mass. Rocky was tragically killed in a workplace accident on April 11. Father Scott presented the 2011 Paschal Candle for All Saints parish to Rocky's husband, Roger. The Paschal Candle was lit at the 11:30 AM Easter Mass at All Saints.
To add to the celebrations on this holy night were two couples celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at the end of the Easter Vigil Mass.
May God's grace and blessings be upon us all as we enter this Easter Season.
Deacon Gerry
