A Message From Archbishop Kurtz
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, May God bless you!
I am pleased to welcome you to our new website, www.archlou.org. Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI said in his most recent Message for the 45th World Day of Communications, “The new technologies are not only changing the way we communicate, but communication itself, so much so that it could be said that we are living through a period of vast cultural transformation.”
These “new technologies” also will be a topic of discussion at the synod for the new evangelization in 2012. Pope Benedict XVI has established a Pontifical Council that will look at ways “to study and to encourage the use of modern forms of communication as instruments for the new evangelization.”
We hope that our website provides a meaningful contribution to this new way of communicating by helping you to obtain the information you seek, learn about your faith, and keep in touch with all of the “good news” that is going on within our local Church.
As a viewer, you should be able to navigate and find information more quickly and easily through our enhanced search bar and the organization of the home page. We want our new website to be informative and to show the various faces, ministries, services, churches, and schools of our great Archdiocese.
Our Holy Father reminds us that “Even when it (the Gospel) is proclaimed in the virtual space of the web, the Gospel demands to be incarnated in the real world and linked to the real faces of our brothers and sisters, those with whom we share our daily lives.” We hope that this new website will provide you the tools to become more closely linked with your brothers and sisters in the Archdiocese of Louisville.
In today’s fast-paced world, we know the importance of accessing valuable information. Thus, we also will provide breaking news, weather closings, delays, and other relevant local news through the web.
Please spend some time exploring our new website. Send your comments, questions, and suggestions through the “Contact Us” link at the top of the page and let us know how we can better serve you. My prayers are with all of you.
Sincerely yours in our Lord,
Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, D.D.
Archbishop of Louisville
