Prayer for vocations

A post from Bishop Paul Entienne's blog. I did not realize that he was the pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Albany...

As we draw near the end of this month of October, a brief conversation with one of my priests this week gave me the idea to share with you a prayer for vocations which fits easily into the rosary.
While I was pastor in New Albany, Indiana at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the parishioners taught me many things.  One of them was this prayer for vocations.  The parishioners that gathered each weekday for Mass always prayed the rosary before Mass.  I remember the first day praying with them, they had a prayer added, which I did not know, nor had ever before heard.  They pray the prayer after the prayer for the souls in purgatory.  This is the prayer:
God our Father, please send us holy priests, all for the Sacred and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus; all for the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, in union with St. Joseph.
I thought of this prayer while walking this morning.  I always pray a rosary or two during my walk, and this reminded me to share this with you today.  I encourage not only a growth in our devotion to the Blessed Mother, and regularly praying the rosary, but also this prayer for holy priests.
As I have shared before, Mary’s intercession in my own life has been a tremendous help.  May each of you continue to grow in your devotion to our Blessed Mother, and may all of us continue to grow in holiness through her intercession.
Mary, Queen of Peace, Pray for us!
