Obituary for parishioner Anna Hochstrasser



Anna Marie Shields Hochstrasser

85, died Saturday, the 16th day of May, 2015, surrounded by her family and loving caregivers at Baptist Health Palliative Care in Louisville. 

Born on the 24th day of June, 1929, in Taylorsville, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Minnie Greenwell Shields. She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church. A registered nurse, she retired after a forty-five year career, and her memberships also formerly included the Spencer County Homemakers, the Spencer County Quilting Guild, and the Queen's Daughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin "Shorty" Hochstrasser, and her brother, Frank Shields. 

Her survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Young, and her husband, Billy, of Taylorsville; her son Jonathan Hochstrasser and his wife, Kathi, of Louisville; her sisters, Betty Cecil and her husband, Marty, and Jane Bush and her husband, Herman; her brother, Joseph Shields and his wife, Mary Anne; her twin brother, Tony Shields and his wife, Rose Marie; her three grandchildren, Benjamin, Elizabeth, and Robert; and her two great-grandchildren, Mary Beth and Robert. 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11a.m. Wednesday, the 20th day of May, 2015, at the All Saints Catholic Church of Taylorsville with Reverend Dale Cieslik celebrating. Interment is in Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, 19 May 2015, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Taylorsville.
Deacon Gerry Mattingly will preside at a vigil prayer service at 2p,m, Tuesday at the funeral home.
