A note about planning your funeral.
In recent months, we have had a couple of instances where people apparently wanted Catholic funerals, but children who are not practicing Catholics either did not know, or did not care to follow their parent's wishes.
If your intent is to have a Funeral Mass, it would be a good idea to make your wishes known clearly and in writing. If you have pre-planned your funeral, make sure the funeral home has a written copy of your wishes for your funeral service in your file there.
Your family also needs to be aware that the time and day for your Funeral Mass must be approved by the Pastor before it is finalized by the funeral home.
If we want to increase the chances of having a priest available for our funeral Masses, it would behoove us all to pray for priestly vocations!
