Fast and Pray, This Friday!

Truth & Charity FB affiliate, Stand with the US Bishops Against the HHS, has proclaimed a day of fasting and prayer!  Over 5000 Catholics from around the world are already planning to join us!
Please join us in fasting and praying this Friday for the US Bishops, for them to have the courage and wisdom to continue addressing this grave situation.
If you have a FB account, share this event with your friends!
Jonah began his journey through the city, and when he had gone only a single day’s walk announcing, “Forty days more and Nineveh shall be overthrown,” the people of Nineveh believed God; they proclaimed a fast and all of them, great and small, put on sackcloth.

When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. Then he had this proclaimed throughout Nineveh: “By decree of the king and his nobles, no man or beast, no cattle or sheep, shall taste anything; they shall not eat, nor shall they drink water. Man and beast alike must be covered with sackcloth and call loudly to God; they all must turn from their evil way and from the violence of their hands. Who knows? God may again repent and turn from his blazing wrath, so that we will not perish.” When God saw by their actions how they turned from their evil way, he repented of the evil he had threatened to do to them; he did not carry it out. -Jonah 3:4-10

Prayers needed: Ordinations and RCIA

Ordinations:
Last Saturday, David Carr, Johnny Johnson, Stu Priddy, and Chris Rhodes were ordained transitional deacons, on track to become priests next year. This is the largest class in years; unfortunately, we will have 12 priests retiring next year, so we need to keep up our prayers for vocations.

RCIA
Our neophytes and fully initiated will continue to meet through Pentecost for a period of Mystagogia. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their faith journeys. If you know somebody interested in exploring the Catholic faith or if you are interested in joining the RCIA team, please contact Mari Wertz.

Updated: Tragic death of parishioner, Sylvia "Rocky" Walters

Another terrible accident has happened to one of our All Saints  parishioners.

Rocky Walters, who was in RCIA to enter the Church at the Easter Vigil, was killed today when a slab of granite fell on her at work.

She was a wonderful woman, and this will hurt the entire body of Christ, but pray especially for her husband, Roger, their grown children and her parents.

Roger just lost his mother a couple of weeks ago.

God give us strength where we have none.

A touching comment left on the blog from one of Rocky's customers at KBR Manufacturing:

I too was a customer of KBR and had a 2nd appt with Rocky Monday night. I was devasted upon arriving to hear the tragic news. I liked Rocky the moment I met her. I thought that if we lived in the same city, she is someone I would like to be friends with. I have wept and prayed for her family throughout the day. My prayer is that God will give her husband, children, and parents the peace and even joy that comes with KNOWING that she is with Him experiencing complete happiness. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. This life is so temporary. You will be with her soon.
